Amy Freedman is professor and department chair at LIU Post, Brookville, NY and associate research scholar at Columbia University's Weatherhead East Asian Institute.  Dr. Freedman writes about political economy issues, democracy, and ethnic and religious politics in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.  She has a forthcoming book with Lynne Reinner (co-authored with Ann Marie Murphy) on non-traditional security threats in Southeast Asia and has published articles in journals such asReligion and Politics, Asian Affairs, Civil Society, Orbis, World Affairs, and elsewhere.  Dr. Freedman is also a co-editor of the journal Asian Security.
