Taiwan's Advantech aims to turn Malaysia into Southeast Asia hub

In an article by Nikkei Asia, Lauly Li writes how Taiwan’s largest computer maker is set to make Malaysia as its Southeast Asia hub.

Malaysia was not the most cost-effective option in Southeast Asia, he said, but its diverse culture and languages and high-quality workforce will benefit the company's long-term strategy. Advantech has also partnered with a local supplier to outsource its manufacturing in the Southeast Asian country.
Advantech aims to enlarge its engineering team in Southeast Asia and in the longer term develop a regional talent pool that its various businesses can draw on. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Malaysia's University of Science to establish an "artificial intelligence of things" lab by the end of this year. It is also collaborating in Thailand with King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok to cultivate talent for the Internet of Things industry.
