USINDO Summer Studies 2020

USINDO Summer Studies has been held for 23 years with the generous support of the Freeman Foundation. Entering its 24th year of implementation, USINDO is proud to have 241 alumni across the United States.

USINDO Summer Studies program is a specially designed language and cultural immersion that is distinct from most. It entails an intensive ten-week language and cultural studies fellowship held from May to August in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. USINDO works in conjunction with two local organizations in Yogyakarta: Purna Caraka Muda Indonesia (PCMI), and Indonesian Language and Culture Intensive Course (ILCIC) of Sanata Dharma University. Other aspects of the program include volunteering opportunities, field trips and host families.

This fulfilling program in Yogyakarta will be augmented with the opportunity to get exposure and networking opportunities in Jakarta which is designed to broaden the participants’ perspective and knowledge. It will allow them to interact in an open discussion with government officials, experts of different fields, academics, NGOs and the private sector.

USINDO Summer Studies is open to U.S university students from all levels of education, currently enrolled or are recent graduates (within 6 months) from any U.S schools of higher education. Participants are selected under a competitive application process.

USINDO Summer Studies 2020 will take place from June 5 to August 12, 2020.

In addition to completing the application form, students are required to submit a 500-800 word personal statement, resume, transcript(s), and one letter of recommendation.

USINDO accepts applications all year long. Applications and required documents must be received by USINDO no later than January 24, 2020 to be considered for the Summer 2020 intake. Applicants will be notified of the decisions in mid-February 2020. Additional questions can be directed to usindojkt@usindo.org.
