SEASSI is an eight-week intensive language training program for undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals. It has been held since 1983 and hosted by UW-Madison since 2000. Instruction is offered for academic credit in eight languages at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year levels: Burmese, Filipino, Hmong, Indonesian, Javanese, Khmer, Lao, Thai, and Vietnamese. Each language course is equivalent to two semesters of study, with full academic year credit. This summer’s program will be held from June 14 through August 6, 2021.

Full and partial funding is available for study at SEASSI. Students are strongly encouraged to apply to the FLAS Fellowship (deadline: February 15, 2021), the WISLI Tuition Scholarship (deadline TBD; see SEASSI website for updates), and the SEASSI Tuition Scholarship (application deadline: April 5, 2021).
