IPAC Report - Indonesian Islamists in the Lead-up to the 2024 Elections: A Closer Look at the Pre-Election Strategies of Four Islamist Groups

The latest report from NYSEAN Partner the Institute for Policy Analysis of Conflict (IPAC) analyzes the pre-election strategies of four Islamist groups: the Islamic Brotherhood Front (Front Persaudaraan Islam (FPI)), Wahdah Islamiyah, Arrahman Qur’anic Learning (AQL), and Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). The report explores why the Islamists are weaker than they were in 2019, and says the main reason is the success of the Jokowi government’s anti-radicalization campaign driven by the Jokowi government. As a result, the “country is no longer as religiously polarized as it was in 2019.”
