HRTS S4020 - Introduction to Human Rights - Summer Session 2023
This graduate seminar course offers a multidisciplinary introduction to human rights and provides a survey of issues, challenges, and approaches in contemporary human rights. The course is structured around some of the main challenges faced by the human rights movement and international human rights law today, addressing the different philosophical foundations of human rights, the obstacles in providing for accountability beyond state actors, the need to focus on implementation, and the balance between egalitarian rights and contextualized identities, among others. 

The course is offered by the Institute for the Study of Human Rights in conjunction with the School of Professional Studies. It is a required core class for the Certification of Professional Achievement in Human Rights
