Call for Submissions: International Society of Tropical Foresters (ISTF) 28th Annual Conference: “Rethinking Restoration and Recovery: Landscapes of the Past, Present, and Future in the Tropics.”

The Yale Chapter of the International Society of Tropical Foresters (ISTF) will host its 28th Annual Conference: “Rethinking Restoration and Recovery: Landscapes of the Past, Present, and Future in the Tropics.” The hybrid conference will take place on January 27 - 29th, 2022. Abstract submissions for breakout sessions, flash talks, and applications for the ISTF Innovation Prize, are due December 10th, 2021.

The Yale ISTF Chapter is dedicated to the advancement of tropical forest studies at the Yale School of the Environment, formerly known as the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. The ISTF conference has been hosted at Yale for 27 years and addresses a range of socio-ecological issues across the tropics. The 2022 conference will facilitate a space for academics, practitioners, activists, policy makers, artists, journalists, and community leaders from all corners of the world to consider the challenges and opportunities for scaling the restoration and recovery of tropical landscapes in the coming decade. This year, the conference seeks to weave together historically, ecologically, and socially relevant perspectives on timescales of threat, degradation, and recovery.

The 2022 conference will adopt a hybrid format, predominantly held virtually via Zoom with the option for local attendees to participate in certain events in-person. We hope that the primarily online format will allow wider access and flexibility for attendees around the world, especially for participants and speakers that have historically faced difficulties with travel to the United States.

Applications are due by December 10, 2022. Click here for more information.
