Inks: “Labor in the Margins: Filipino Comics Workers in the US Comic Book Industry”

In this paper published by Inks: The Journal of Comics Society, NYSEAN member Lara Saguisag foregrounds the issues of labor, migration, and artists’ rights in the US comic book industry in order to highlight the racial and colonial dimensions of labor in the comics industry. This article received an Honorable Mention for the 2024 Comics Studies Society Article Prize.
Lara Saguisag is the Georgiou Chair in Children’s Literature and Literacy and an Associate Professor of Teaching and Learning at New York University.
