Description:

The Council on Thai Studies (COTS) invites students, scholars and practitioners to attend its 2023 annual meeting, which will be hosted by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Northern Illinois University (NIU). The meeting will be held in-person in the Capitol Room on the main floor of NIU’s Holmes Student Center from October 20-22. There will also be a virtual component to the conference that will take place on Zoom in the evenings from October 16-19.. COTS 2023 is free and open to the public.

The deadline for proposals has passed and the schedule for the in-person part of the conference is now available. All conference participants should register in advance for the conference.

Speaker:

This year’s keynote speaker is Prasit Leepreecha, Ph.D., assistant professor, Department of Social Science and Development, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University). The title of Dr. Leepreecha’s address is: “Empowering the Margins: The Roles of NGOs among Ethnic Highlanders in Thailand. Dr. Leepreecha will deliver his keynote address in a hybrid format (in-person and virtually on Zoom) starting at 12 p.m. U.S. Central Time on Friday, October 20.
