Jefferson is an Environmental Planner and Civil Engineer from Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. He is an advocate for the Disaster Risk Reduction, Environmental Protection and Urban Development in the face of Climate Change. He completed both of his degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan (XU). Since 2014 he is a faculty member of the XU Civil Engineering Department and from 2015 to 2021 the Program Coordinator for Disaster Risk, Environment and Management at XU ERC. He is currently Research Coordinator for the College of Engineering at Xavier Ateneo and concurrently serves as Academic Staff for the Erasmus+ Masters in Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction which aims to deliver a masters mobility program in Asia among 3 countries from Cambodia, Malaysia and the Philippines. He held technical and leadership positions in different research projects in Xavier Ateneo and with consultancy engagements in Sustainable Development, Research applications of GIS and Remote Sensing, Transport, Land Use Changes, Water Resources, Environmental and Civil Engineering. He has completed trainings from varied reputable institutions such as the IATTS Forum of Japan, the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction, National Resilience Council of the Philippines, Manila Observatory, University of the Philippines National Engineering Center, National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction in Taiwan and the XU - South East Asia Rural Social Leadership Institute.
