Jose Mari Hall Lanuza

Jose Mari Hall Lanuza is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Philippines Manila and a Communication PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In 2024 he also received a Dissertation Innovation Fellowship from the Mellon Foundation and the American Council for Learned Societies. He also serves as an assessor for the International Fact-Checking Network. In the Philippines, he is the research head for the non-profit thinktank SIGLA: Action Research Center for Resilient Public Spheres. He studies political communication and disinformation, media systems, and elections. His works have been published by Routledge, Wiley Blackwell, the Review of Women's Studies, Harvard Shorenstein Center, and Internews. He is currently conducting research on the everyday dynamics of disinformation heading into the 2025 Philippine midterm elections.
