Community-based management of a protected area in Sabah, Malaysia.
The AIPP network builds dialogue between local indigenous groups and protected area authorities in several countries in Asia on the issue of community management. In the case of Sabah, Malaysia, the objective was to create win-win situations for conservation agencies and indigenous communities in and near protected areas - to conserve Southeast Asia's rich biodiversity while safeguarding the rights and concerns of the indigenous peoples.
