From July 2016 to January 2017, Yoko Hayami conducted fieldwork in Chiang Mai, Thailand on issues of aging and care in present-day Thai society. Visiting elderly homes and communities both in the city and in rural settings, Hayami looked at how Thai society is beginning to tackle the emergent issue of rapid aging population, and how the elderly are experiencing this.
