Cultural Resilience in Borneo

The island of Borneo is home to the Penan, nomadic and formerly nomadic groups of hunter-gatherers that live in the interior of Borneo’s tropical rainforests.  Long Lamai is in the Heart of Borneo, a UN global conservation priority with some of the planet’s most biologically diverse equatorial rainforest habitats. This lecture by Shorna Allred at Cornell University will detail the participatory action research project that examines the cultural resilience of the Penan in Long Lamai around issues of environmental protection, sustainable development, and indigenous people.
