The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), in partnership with Transparency International Malaysia and the Merdeka Center for Opinion Research, will be hosting a webinar on the transparency and impact of Malaysia’s COVID-19 stimulus relief funds.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had severe impacts on Malaysia’s economy, particularly the wellbeing of many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. To support the economy, particularly SMEs, the federal government of Malaysia had introduced multiple stimulus packages – PRIHATIN, PENJANA and PERMAI – totalling millions of dollars in waivers, deferrals, and cash transfers. However, the country’s ongoing state of emergency and the unelected governing coalition have raised questions about the implementation of these programs in terms of deliverables and outreach, as well as from a good governance perspective.

To understand the impact of these funds for SMEs and assess their effectiveness and transparency, Transparency International Malaysia and the Merdeka Center for Opinion Research conducted a two-phase polling study of 500 SMEs.

Join the webinar on August 17th for highlights of the polling study’s report, recommendations for best practices in transparent, and effective stimulus relief funds. This will be followed by a Q&A session.
