The CSIS Southeast Asia Program is pleased to present a panel discussion on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America. This session, featuring welcoming remarks from Ambassador Jose Manuel G. Romualdez, will explore the past, present, and future of the U.S.-Philippines alliance with Gen. Emmanuel T. Bautista, former chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Christopher Capozzola, professor of history at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Charmaine Misalucha-Willoughby, associate professor at De La Salle University.
