Organizer: The Stimson Center
Description:
Join our Mekong Dam Monitor team and discussants on the 2022 dry season in the Mekong Basin.
2021 was the 9th driest year on record in the region. That’s making the 2022 dry season even drier and threatening agricultural productivity in the Mekong Delta. Upstream dams have begun releasing water for hydropower production. Does this help or hurt the Mekong and its communities during the dry season? What are the impacts to economies and ecologies in the region’s most important river system? How can Mekong countries adapt?Simultaneous translation will be available for five local Mekong languages (Burmese, Khmer, Lao, Thai, Vietnamese).
