The Art, Activism, Authoritarianism in Contemporary Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Working Group and University of California Riverside’s Center for Ideas and Society will host three speakers to discuss different forms of artistic resistance in Southeast Asia. Elisabeth Arti Wulandari will analyze the cultural activism of Teater Garasi in post-1998 Indonesia. Joanne Leow will speak to Tania De Rozario’s queer literary circumventions in Singapore. Weihsin Gui will talk about the depictions of Southeast Asian urban life within the Liquid City comics anthology.
