Join the NYU MA Program in International Relations for lunch and two presentations. Zin Wai Yan will present “Shifting Views on Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) in Myanmar’s Spring Revolution,” and MAIR Professor Frances O’Morchoe will lecture on “The Art of Pretending to Govern: Sovereignty, Resistance and the State in Burma.” A Q&A session will follow the talks.

About the Speakers:

  • Zin Wai Yan is a graduate student from the Sagaing Region. He graduated from the Parami Institute of Continuing Education.

  • Frances O’Morchoe is a Visiting Assistant Professor in International History with the Program in International Relations at New York University. She is currently working on a book about the history of sovereignty and state formation in the Burma-China borderlands. Her research interests include ethnicity, natural resources, and colonialism in Burma.
