Nuruddin Al Akbar

Nuruddin Al Akbar is a lecturer at Universitas Diponegoro and a doctoral student at the Department of Politics and Government, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). An alumnus of CIPSI (Center for Islamic Philosophical Studies and Information)’s philosophical pesantren, he is actively involved in academic research and conferences in philosophy, social sciences, and humanities. Nuruddin has presented at prestigious forums, including the 6th Annual Islamic Philosophy Conference (2024) hosted by Harvard, Brandeis, and the Journal of Islamic Philosophy, and at the Islam and Evolution: A Hermeneutics Outlook organized by the University of Edinburgh. He has participated in research projects such as "Power, Welfare, and Democracy (PWD)," a collaboration between Univeritas Gadjah Mada and the University of Oslo. His research interests include the decolonization of knowledge, comparative philosophy, environmentalism, gender studies, and Islamic thought and movement. His recent works explore contemporary Islamic philosophical though in Southeast Asia, Islamic intellectual traditions in Indonesia, women candidates in Indonesian election, and Gus Dur’s philosophy.
