Fahmi Rizki Fahroji

Fahmi R. Fahroji is a PhD student in Science and Technology Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He holds a Master of Research in Human Geography from the University of Glasgow and a BA in Anthropology from Universitas Gadjah Mada. He received the research impact award from the Association of Southeast Asian Studies, UK 2022 for his project 'Futures of Borneo Coal Mine'. Fahmi’s current research explores the history and social life of the earth and geological sciences in Indonesia, with a focus on the intersections of underground spaces and petroleum science and technology. He employs ethnographic methods to engage with engineers, prospectors, miners, and local shamans, alongside archival and textual analysis. His work and scholarship encompass environmental anthropology, history of science, and environmental humanities.
