WEBINAR: Investigative Journalism and Uncovering Human Rights Abuses Against Minorities in Indonesia

Chiang Mai Andreas Harsono (1).jpg

This event centers on the role of the politicization of identity in human rights abuses against minorities in Indonesia. As a journalist and free press activist, Andreas Harsono (Human Rights Watch) will be discussing the role of civil society in a society where politics is increasingly becoming polarized as identity is becoming politicized. Harsono will specifically focus on Indonesia as a multicultural state to understand the social, political, and historical issues that lead to human rights abuses against minorities and situate the role of investigative journalism in this context. Participants will then be welcomed to directly engage with the expert in a moderated discussion.

This event is co-hosted by Sigma Iota Rho, the Sigur Center for Asian Studies, the Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication, and the Organization of Asian Studies.

Please RSVP 24 hours in advance; the link will be sent to participants in advance of the event. Click here to RSVP.
