Organizer: Asian American Writers Workshop
Join the Asian American Writers’ Workshop to celebrate Thirii Myo Kyaw Myint’s lyric memoir, Names for Light: A Family History, with Thirii and author Sunisa Manning (A Good True Thai). Discussing memory, family, and legacies of postcolonial violence in Southeast Asia, the panel will illuminate connections between their work and craft.
Bios:
Thirii Myo Kyaw Myint is the author of The End of Peril, the End of Enmity, the End of Strife, a Haven. She has a BA from Brown University, an MFA from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD from the University of Denver. She teaches at Amherst College.
Sunisa Manning was born and raised in Bangkok by Thai and American parents. She has a BA in English Literature from Brown University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her first novel, A Good True Thai, was a finalist for the Epigram Books Fiction Prize for Southeast Asian writers. It was published in Southeast Asia in September 2020. It went into a second printing in February 2021.
