Description:

Twenty months after the military coup provoked a nationwide resistance movement, Myanmar is seeing fierce fighting across an unprecedented expanse of the country. By one account, the share of Myanmar’s townships nationwide engaged in armed resistance grew from 59% in 2020 to 71% in this year’s first half. The National Unity Government, People’s Defense Forces, and partnered EAOs are engaged in active, daily, and deadly battles against the military junta.
