Join NYSEAN and The Asia Foundation for a talk by Madam Inthana Bouphasavanh, Executive Director of the Association for Development of Women and Legal Education (ADWLE), and Khaliungoo Ganbat, The Asia Foundation’s Acting Country Representative in Laos. With ADWLE playing a leading role in the rule of law and protection of women’s rights in Laos, they will discuss recent developments in advancing gender equality in the country. NYSEAN co-founder John Gershman will moderate the discussion.

About the Speakers:

Madam Inthana Bouphasavanh is the Founder and Director of the Association for Development of Women and Legal Education (ADWLE), a pioneering organization advancing gender equality and legal empowerment in Laos since 2012. With a career in law spanning over two decades, she has worked tirelessly to bridge gaps in justice access for women, challenge discriminatory norms, and promote sustainable livelihoods linked to climate resilience. In recognition for her unwavering commitment, she will be honored at The Asia Foundation’s Lotus Leadership Awards Gala for her dedication to ending violence against women and girls in Laos.

Khaliungoo Ganbat (she/her/hers) is the deputy country representative at The Asia Foundation in Lao PDR. In this role, she provides strategic leadership and oversight for the design and implementation of programs in governance, environmental resilience, and inclusive economic growth, while also ensuring operational excellence across the office.
