Attawat Joseph Ma Assavanadda
The University of Hong Kong
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Hong Kong and a member of the Pacific Forum’s Young Leaders Program. My research interests revolve around International Relations and Security in the Asia-Pacific, with a particular focus on China-Southeast Asia relations. My ongoing Ph.D. project endeavors to investigate Thai people’s attitudes toward China and its public diplomacy activities in Southeast Asia and test whether and how media frames affect individuals’ perceptions of such activities. Prior to Hong Kong, I obtained my MA in International Relations (International Security Specialisation) from Waseda University and my BA in Political Science from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. I previously worked as a political analyst at the Government House of Thailand and as a research assistant at the German-Southeast Asian Centre of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG).
