FX Harsono, one of Indonesia’s most revered contemporary artists and part of the Asia Society’s exhibition After Darkness: Southeast Asian Art in the Wake of History, discusses in his work the context of the troubled history of ethnic Chinese in Indonesia. Harsono’s work takes on renewed urgency in the current political unrest.  Karen Strassler, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Queens College and a scholar of Harsono’s art, will engage the artist in a conversation on his work and how it reflects on contemporary politics.

FX Harsono’s participation is made possible by Asia Society.
