Across the Archives: Colonial Photography on the Philippines

Sponsors: Committee on Research Materials on Southeast Asia, Cornell Southeast Asia Program, Southeast Asia Digital Library

Description:

Join an online discussion on Cornell University's Gerow D. Brill Collection and University of Michigan’s Dean C. Worcester Photographic Collection. Speakers Claire Cororaton, a PhD Candidate at Cornell University, and Dr. Mary Dorothy Jose, an Associate Professor at University of the Philippines Manila, will discuss how photography was used to document the Philippines during the years of American imperialism.

Hosted by the Committee on Research Materials on Southeast Asia (CORMOSEA), the Southeast Asia Program (SEAP), and the Southeast Asia Digital Library (SEADL), this webinar is the first in SEADL's series, Across the Archives, that strives to deconstruct the institutional silos that separate CORMOSEA's digital collections. By bringing together disparate library materials in conversation, we make the digital library landscape easier for users to navigate and shine light on hidden collections.
