Soedjatmoko and His Intellectual Engagements: From Indonesia to the World

Three historians will be exploring and situating Soedjatmoko’s intellectual journeys in the context of discourses at the global, regional and national levels. David C. Engerman (Yale University, USA) will focus on Soedjatmoko’s idea of development beyond economics in the context of global discourse on development; Su Lin Lewis (Bristol University, UK) will situate Soedjatmoko in the building of a new Asia; and Farabi Fakih (Gajah Mada University, Indonesia) will explore Soedjatmoko’s views on the role of intellectuals and national development. The panel will be moderated by Scott Guggenheim (Georgetown University, USA).
