The Indonesia National Survey Project 2022: Engaging with Developments in the Political, Economic and Social Spheres

Organizer: ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute

Description:

The ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute commissioned a second nationwide survey in 2022 in Indonesia, after the first one in 2017, called the Indonesia National Survey Project (INSP), to enhance understanding of political, economic and social developments in Indonesia. The survey covers public opinion on a wide range of topics related to the politics, economy and society of Indonesia. This webinar will provide more extensive analysis on support for democracy as a political system and the perception that democracy is on the decline. On the economic front, the webinar will highlight the three main concerns of Indonesians – unemployment, inflation, and poverty – and their possible implications. Finally, the webinar will examine the role of Islam in society, attitudes towards the moving of the national capital, and attitudes towards ethnic Chinese and China. By considering opinions towards this broad range of issues, a more nuanced understanding emerges on how Indonesians engage with developments in the public sphere.
