In the spirit of encouraging the study of the history of medicine in Southeast Asia, Prof. Rethy Kieth Chhem, an academic physician and practicing radiologist who was simultaneously pursuing a doctoral degree in history (on the history of medicine in ancient Angkor), developed the idea of organising a conference in the region. The History of Medicine in Southeast Asia Conference will feature panel discussions on Chinese medicine in Southeast Asia, regional medicinal traditions, health challenges in Southeast Asia, and more.
