Description:
To mark the 50th anniversary of Southeast Asian exiles, we invite you to join us in this collective commemoration on April 14, 2025.
Whispers to the ancestors is an immersive performance to weave a dialogue through water—a symbol of passage, the bridging between the past, present and future, and rejuvenation. We invite you into a space where remembrance and commemoration coexist, bringing together voices, memories, and wishes across the shores of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, North America, and Europe. We invite you to share your reflections, art or artifacts:
Is there an object, a color, or a scent that connects you to your family or to collective history? What sound or image represents exile or heritage for you?
About the Artist:
XM Tran is an artist who explores queerness and the Vietnamese diaspora through linocut prints, performances, and sound. Their practice intertwines visual storytelling, community workshops for those in precarious situations, and a podcast delving into exile and memory. Through carving, speaking, and listening, XM traces the contours of displacement and belonging.
